Synopsis:
The film portrays a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller (Kate Winslet). Miller’s singular talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century’s most indelible images of war, including an iconic photo of Miller herself, posing defiantly in Hitler’s private bathtub. Miller had a profound understanding and empathy for women and the voiceless victims of war. Her images display both the fragility and ferocity of the human experience. Above all, the film shows how Miller lived her life at full-throttle in pursuit of truth, for which she paid a huge personal price.
Reviews:
Critics Consensus: “Kate Winslet’s gripping performance in the title role helps elevate Lee beyond its disappointingly conventional biopic trappings.”
Audience Reviews: “5 stars. Really excellent true story about a magazine correspondent that covers the front lines of WW2. Powerful and emotional movie starring Kate Winslet, who does a fantastic job playing an ex-model turned photographer for Vogue magazine.” Jeffrey K – IMDB
“5 stars. Phenomenal performance by Kate Winslet, well portrayed biopic and a great little twist at the end. I have the book of Lee Millar’s photographs and the movie captured these incredibly closely. Highly recommend and one of my favourites for 2025.” Stephanie J – IMDB
